16 Ways to Decorate for Fall on a Budget

Amelia Mularz
September 16, 2015

As fun as it is to go all out for Halloween, that witchy dinnerware, those ghoulish garlands and your Frankenstein salt and pepper shakers will quickly become outdated come November 1st.   If you don’t have the funds (or the energy) for a Thanksgiving overhaul after Halloween, decorate for all of autumn at once. Focus on the harvest- earth tones, pumpkins, gourds and leaves. Need some inspiration?

Here we’ve rounded up 16 ideas that will carry your décor straight to December.

Wreaths

Deck out your doorway with a seasonal wreath. Steer clear of orange and black, as well as any creepy crawlers, and you can use the same piece to greet trick-or-treaters and guests on Turkey Day.

target makes a nearly natural wreath that festive, but doesn’t scream Halloween.  Go for a different shape with Urban Florals Autumn Copper Fall Wreaths, which are arranged so there is clearly a circular shape to them. The colors are pretty amazing too.

Doormats

After a day at the apple orchard or an afternoon tailgating, come home and wipe your feet in style on a festive fall doormat. Kohl's stocks a Harvest Doormat that’s covered in colorful leaves and pumpkins.

There's also a beautiful Day of the Dead themed mat that would really be nice on your porch. It's full of color and fun sugar skulls style pumpkin.

Candles

Capture all the cozy aromas of autumn with deliciously scented candles. Yankee Candle’s Apple Cider is perfect parts spicy and fruity.

Burn Bath & Body Works Cinnamon Sweet Candle in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving and get your whole family amped up for pie. This high-quality blend is handmade and uses natural essential oils. Then there are Bath & Body Works’ 3-Wick Candles that come in a slew of fall themes.

This great sampler from Yankee Candle has enough candles to make your whole room smell amazing! Plus this makes a great hostess gift!

Fun Knick-Knacks

If you love knick-knacks then you'll love these twig pumpkins from Crate & Barrel. They would be perfect for an end table or dining table. One King's Lane has super cute glass pumpkins that could be on your dining table from September to October. We love the shape and color of them. Kohl's has cute throw pillows in a variety of patterns that all scream fall (in fact this one even says fall!). While you are there you might want to check out felt leaves, table runners, cloth napkins and even placemats. They have a huge selection just for fall!
